Easter 2018 – Please Choose your NHS Services Well

If you want a routine appointment to see a Doctor or Nurse, or need a blood test taking, over the Easter Weekend, please book through your GP surgery or by phoning NHS 111 or 0191 486 2195.

We will have our hubs open as follows:

Opening Time

Closing Time (last appointment 30 mins before)

Friday 30 March (Bank Holiday, Good Friday)

Saturday 31 March

Sunday 1 April

Monday 2 April (Bank Holiday, Easter Monday)

Note you must book an appointment, preferably through your GP practice when they are open (call 8:30 – 18:00 on working days Mon – Fri), or during the weekend 8am-8pm on 0191 486 2195.  This helps us to access your medical records so that the doctor or nurse can give you the right treatment.

There are a few appointments available by calling NHS 111 on the day.

Note that this service is NOT a WALK-IN service, so please don’t go to the hub without booking an appointment.  You will be seen at or close to your appointment time.

Other services that you can use

Accident and Emergency Department (NSECH or RVI)

As the name suggests, this is for Emergencies and major Accidents.  Please call 999 to determine if it is an emergency and to arrange transport.  A&E are open 24 hours.

Urgent Treatment Centre (UTC – North Tyneside General Hospital, Battle Hill)

These are for urgent diagnosis and treatment, eg sprains and bruising.  If you need Urgent treatment that can’t wait for your own GP, then speak to NHS 111.  UTC is not suitable for routine appointments such as prescription renewal, annual review, blood tests, or a condition that has been going on for some weeks.  UTC are open 8am-8pm (or longer in some cases)

Community Pharmacy

Many conditions are self-treatable eg colds and flu, and you should either wrap up warm and stay in, or speak to your community pharmacist about what you need.
